Project summary:

Function of national borders is separation but also connection. State borders and symbolic - cultural, economic, ethnic, religious - borders do not separate but connect. We know from researches that local residents do not experience such borders as limitations but also as potentials that bring many opportunities in everyday life also enhance tourism. Thinking beyond state borders is a long-standing human behaviour, it is the base of many identities, including many of the European and Bačka. Therefore, the overall objective of the project is to make people of CRB to strengthen their European identity through extensive collaboration between various cultural and educational institutes. Along with emphasizing the shared European identity, the goal is also to preserve and help them feel proud of their Bačka heritage and promote it with rich scientific/cultural and touristic programmes and through this setting a good example for others. Our research aims at examining the impact of this and drawing the symbolic boundaries that cross country borders and historical eras that connect people living in CBR. The archaeological artifacts confirm that this region was organic part of a big Bronze Age archaeological community thousands of years ago that ruled most of Europe. Despite numerous ethnic disagreements in Bačka not only the landscape characteristics, economic conditions and historical events but a variety of interethnic effects also shaped the culture and way of life. This centuries-old coexistence can be connected with many rich, polychrome ethnicities and resulted a unified cultural heritage here. Owing to multilingualism, multiculturalism, ethnic and religious tolerance which developed through the centuries there are also well-presented European values in this region. The activities of the project were formed in the spirit of connection. They try to present the connection of space and identity through historical and contemporary good practices, popularize it, integrate it into education and present the strategy of the centuries-old practice of problem solving. The ethnic, religious and linguistic image of the region is particularly diverse and unique. It is like a micro-Europe. We present this fascinating diversity, living side by side, through particularly rich joint cultural, touristic and scientific programs, from experiential children's activities to knowledge-sharing conferences for researchers. The common future is particularly important to us, which is why, in addition to the many cultural programs that entertain and "educate", we also want to make sure that the teachers who educate the future generation also work for a more social and inclusive BAČKA AND EUROPE. Therefore, we integrate the results of the project activities into the informal museum education and the teacher training curriculum. Our cooperation is not interrupted by the close of the project. This is a joint thinking that has been going on for several years that we will continue.
