International Scientific Conference of the University of Novi Sad, Hungarian Language Teacher Training Faculty in Subotica

Date: 18–20 October, 2018
Place: Hungarian Language Teacher Training Faculty, Subotica, 11 Strossmayer Street

Throughout the last ten years, beside its continuous effort to ensure high quality of university education, the Hungarian Language Teacher Training Faculty in Subotica responds to various didactic and methodological challenges as well as develops the scientific and theoretical framework of the profession. Thus, three serial international scientific conferences were founded:

  • International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference
  • International Methodological Scientific Conference
  • International Conference on ICT in Education

In 2018, the conference aims to focus on the various aspect of the following topic:

“MIGRATION STRUCTURE – PRESERVING COMMUNITY – EDUCATION”

Currently, we are witnessing migration, to be specific an exodus. The population which is able to work, especially youngsters, in hope of a better future, not only leave our country, but the region, the so-called transitional countries, as well. Usually the family members who are able to work leave first, and later on, when they know their way about, attract not only their families, but several friends and acquaintances. This is a global social process that does not select its participants and causes damage not only to majority nations, but also to minority communities. Certainly, the process influences minority communities even to a greater extent. Such social processes are worth discussing, determining their causes, structure and consequences, before it is too late.

How to preserve the community, especially minority communities that are negatively affected by global social processes? Are there actions, mechanism and methods that can moderate the process? These are questions that we should face daily by governments of transitional countries, municipalities, leaders of parties, regardless of the nature of their parties.

Education is one of the solid tools that could amend the current crisis. However, it was determined decades ago that the role of scholarly education had been neglected on all levels. Now, the lack of adequate change is paying its price. Education (should) provide the basis of all societies, especially nowadays when knowledge and information form the fundamental source of development.

This conference, for the purpose of dealing with contemporary issues, aims to invite theoretical and practical researchers and experts to jointly consider the above elaborated ideas. Let us jointly reveal migration structure and suggest actions for the purpose of community preservation with a special focus on minority communities. Let us jointly reconsider the urgent changes that need to be introduced in education in order to seize migration or at least moderate its consequences.

The conference topic will be discussed in three main sessions; to be specific from a general interdisciplinary and methodological aspect as well as from the perspective of ICT in education.

The conference is open for all participants who show interest in elaborating on the topic of challenges in contemporary education. We remain at your disposal for any further questions.

We are looking forward welcoming you in Subotica.
Yours sincerely,

Josip Ivanović, Professor
Dean
